Install Sidecar in VS Code

Install the Sidecar Pre-Release directly in VS Code.

You need

  • VS Code 1.136 or later

Install from VSIX

Use the downloaded extension package.

  1. Download the extension

    Select Pre-Release on Downloads, sign in to your Fireball account and download the VSIX.

  2. Install in VS Code

    Open Extensions, select the three-dot menu, choose Install from VSIX and select the downloaded file. Reload VS Code if prompted.

The first time it opens

Open Sidecar in the sidebar and sign in with your Fireball account.

If something's off

How do I update?
Download the latest VSIX and install it the same way. Marketplace availability will be announced on Downloads.
