Install Fireball Wrangler Host on Windows

For Windows 10 or 11 on an Intel or AMD PC. It installs just for you (no admin password) and updates itself.

You need

  • Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11, 64-bit.
  • About 400 MB free, plus room for your agents' projects.
  • Not sure which Windows you have? Settings ▸ System ▸ About ▸ System type says x64-based or ARM-based.

Install

Three clicks. Wrangler is a preview and isn't code-signed yet, so Windows asks once.

  1. Run the installer

    Open FireballWranglerHost-Setup.exe from your Downloads.

  2. If Windows protected your PC: More info, then Run anyway

SmartScreen shows this for new apps that aren't signed yet. Click More info, check the app is Fireball Wrangler Host, then click Run anyway.

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting.

  3. Wrangler opens by itself

It installs in a few seconds and starts. Next time, find it in the Start menu.

    Search: wrangler

The first time it opens

Fireball Wrangler Host opens to Get ready: sign in with your Fireball account, then add an AI account (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini and more). Wrangler downloads and sets up each AI's command-line tool for you and opens its sign-in in your browser. When every row is checked, Start lights up.

Tools to install yourself

Wrangler sets up the AI tools for you. These few need your computer's own installer, so paste them into Terminal (or PowerShell). Get ready shows the same commands if one is missing.

  • Git for Windows

Required. Your agents use it to work on code. (Wrangler fetches a portable copy with your first Claude Code account if you skip this.)

    winget install --id Git.Git
  • GitHub CLI

Optional. Needed for GitHub Projects sync and for agents to open issues and pull requests.

    winget install --id GitHub.cli

    Then sign in to GitHub:

If something's off

There's no Run anyway button.
Click More info first; the button appears under it. If your PC is managed by work or school, it may block unsigned apps. Ask your IT team.
winget isn't recognized.
Install App Installer from the Microsoft Store (it includes winget), then open a new Terminal window.
How do I update?
Wrangler checks by itself. To check now: Settings ▸ Updates ▸ Check for Updates.
How do I remove it?
Settings ▸ Apps ▸ Installed apps ▸ Fireball Wrangler Host ▸ Uninstall.
